Feeding America

Feeding America continuously battles against the food hunger by creating a nationwide network that focuses on bringing food to people in need by becoming a bridge with suppliers and pantries, while preventing and decreasing food waste. These stakeholders encounter various challenges and have different needs/desires to become better address them.

EDI program at Northwestern partnered with Feeding America in order to identify the pain points and gaps within the existing food pantry ecosystem and to design a service that improves the overall experience.

Uber Freight

Uber Freight offers a matching service for the truck drivers with cargo that needs shipping. By eliminating the “middle man”, Uber Freight provided transparency and clarity process and pricing. While this alone addresses some of the well-known problems within the trucking industry, there are still many other challenges that the drivers encounter throughout their journey.

EDI program at Northwestern partnered with the Uber Freight team to understand the current driver experience, their pain points within the trucking ecosystem and identify the opportunity spaces that will lead to impact.

Design For America

Mental health is a critical part of a person’s wellbeing; and similar to physical health, when it is compromised, it needs to be taken care of individually and/or by professionals. Unlike the physical health however, there is not enough awareness on how to receive the right care and connect with the right care providers. With the number of people facing mental health struggles are constantly increasing, it makes is more and more challenging to overall seek help when need.

The team worked with DFA leadership to identify the patient experience, from starting to face the struggles, to admitting to seek help and to ultimately receiving it, as well as the provider experience, from booking to initial consultation, and to design the ultimate solution that solve their major pain points.

Mobibud

Although each individual has their own unique illnesses, cases, and experiences, but when a hospital’s inpatient patients are observed, one problem becomes very applicable for all: the lack of ambulation. Patients, regardless of their current situation, are required to ambulate, move, in order to heal faster. This however, is almost always not the case.

The team conducted a study to understand the patient experience to understand the '“why” behind the lack of movement, and to create a solution to help them better take care of yourselves.
